Their exciting programme will be performed by Liesl Stoltz, flute, Jacqueline Kerrod, harp and Jill King, viola, presented by the Mossel Bay Arts Society, at the Maritime Museum, on Friday, 1 August, at 19:30.
In addition, there will be an opportunity for budding local flautists to attend Master Classes given by Stoltz.
Liesl has appeared with numerous orchestras and chamber music groups. She regularly adjudicates for local eisteddfods and music competitions and was a jury member of Unisa’s first International Flute and Clarinet Competition in February.
In 2012, Liesl embarked on a post-doctoral project at UCT to collect, study, perform and record the work of South African composers. As part of this project Liesl, with the collaboration of other musicians, has held recitals and conducted workshops for teachers and students at various music institutions in the country.
The rare treat of having a visiting harpist, Jacqueline Kerrod, only adds to the attractions of the recital to be performed here on 1 August.
Jacqueline has performed for various Broadway and off-Broadway productions. She has taken part in the Proms at the Albert Hall in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Harare Festival of Arts and the Asphalt Contemporary Festival in Germany.
A keen advocate of contemporary music, she has performed with a number of modern and contemporary ensembles and is a keen ambassador of South African music.
The third member of Trio Volant is young American viola player, Jill King. After serving as a member of the Charleston Symphony (USA) for seven seasons, Jill now regularly performs with the Cape Town Philharmonic and Camerata Tinta Barocca. An avid lover of chamber music, Jill has performed widely in the United States as a member of the Juniper Quintet.
Passionate about teaching, Jill has served on the faculty of the College of Charleston, Charleston Music Academy and the Charleston Development Academy. She was a founding faculty member of Kidzymphony, a string programme based on 'El Sistema', a Venezuelan system of bringing musical training to disadvantaged children in the inner city of Charleston.
In 2011, Liesl Stoltz and Jacqueline Kerrod formed the Stoltz/Kerrod Duo. The duo has joined forces with Jill King, viola, to form Trio Volant.
The programme to be presented by these three vibrant young women reflects their passion, modernity and desire to bring fresh and stimulating music to their audiences.
With composers from Britain and France, the United States and Japan, Germany and Brazil included in the programme, Mossel Bay audiences can anticipate (with relish!) a memorable evening of music.
Tickets, at R70 for members of the Arts Society, R90 for non-members and R20 for children, will be available at the door. The performance will begin at 19:30. Membership of the Arts Society at an annual sub of R60 can also be arranged, at the door.
Students of the flute (at any level) should note, too, that Liesl Stoltz will be giving Master Classes on Saturday, 2 August, at a cost of R150, which includes a general technique class of half an hour, followed by one-to-one classes, also of half an hour each. Participants may observe other one-to-one classes.
Places are limited, so contact Cedric Downard at 082 066 2220 of the Mossel Bay Arts Society to reserve yours. The Master Classes will be held at 113 Montagu Street, from 14:00 to 16:00.

Jaqueline Kerrod, Liesl Stoltz and Jill King.
