MOSSEL BAY NEWS - As part of the Fishing World Games, Mossel Bay is hosting the light bait boat angling section of the Games.
About 1 800 anglers from 53 countries worldwide started angling on the South African coast and at dams and rivers on Saturday, 9 February and will continue until tomorrow, Saturday 16 February.
They compete in different sections of sea and fresh water angling.
The best of the best from three countries participating in the World Light Bait Angling Association division, South Africa (SALBA), Namibia and Zimbabwe, have been competing since yesterday, Thursday 14 February in the Mossel Bay area.
They started practising on Tuesday, 12 February to discover which bait to use in this part of the ocean.
They are 24 anglers (two per boat), with one or two crew members, of which pilots the boat.
According to Ronnie Groenewald, president of SALBA, the competition takes place on a strict catch and release basis.
