RUGBY NEWS - Vodacom Bulls coach John Mitchell has identified Argentinean playmaker Nicolas Sanchez as the key man to stop when the Bulls take on the Jaguares in their Vodacom Super Rugby match this Saturday at Loftus Versfeld.
The Argentinean playmaker has recently signed for Heyneke Meyer’s Stade Francais side, but has been the key man for his franchise as they look to qualify for their first Super Rugby playoff rounds.
Asked if he expected anything different from the Jaguares this time around, Mitchell believed he would see “the same stuff” they had already shown throughout the competition, but did have some hints of where the key figure in the Jaguares would be.
“They pass a lot and a lot of stuff goes through Sanchez. They like winning the ball in the air and they like to get rhythm. With that I think Sanchez has had something like 460 passes compared to Creevy and Cremer who have had about 60, and that gives you an idea how much ball goes through Sanchez’s hands. They drive and fake drive as well and they are very strong with 9 and their blind wings and those things will come again. They chose to pick and go on us a fair bit as well,” Mitchell said.
While the Pumas were a disaster in the June test series, Mitchell believes that the Jaguares play a lot smarter in Super Rugby under their coach Mario Ledesma.
