Four armed men forced them to hand over their luggage, phones and money
A couple from the Democratic Republic of the Congo were both shot and wounded outside a hotel in Sunnyside on Sunday.
OR Tambo spokesperson Leigh Gunkel-Keuler said airport management was concerned about crime in the vicinity of the airport.
“The safety and security of passengers and visitors to OR Tambo International Airport remains of paramount importance to airport management,” said Gunkel-Keuler.
