Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The trial of Shadrack Mhetu, the man accused of murdering Hartenbos businessman Desmond Share in 2023, has been postponed to mid-September for a high court appearance.
Mhetu was expected to stand trial at the Mossel Bay Regional Court yesterday, 12 August, but the matter is now to be heard in the High Court on 17 September.
The accused will stand trial on multiple serious charges: murder, hijacking and kidnapping.
Share (53) was a well-known businessman in the Hartenbos area and had set out on a business trip to Herbertsdale in his Ford Ranger on the morning of 1 August. When Share did not return home later that day, his family reported him missing.
However, the search for Share ended in tragedy when his body was found several days later on 5 August in some bushes near Albertinia.
Police suspected four people were involved in Share's murder; however, only Mhetu was arrested, and the other three are still at large.
Mhetu was arrested in Du Noon in Cape Town that same month. He has remained behind bars ever since.
