MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The trial date of the man accused of the 2023 murder of Hartenbos businessman Desmond Share (53) was set for next August during his appearance in the Mossel Bay Regional Court this morning, 12 December.
Shadreck Mhetu (32) was arrested in Du Noon in Cape Town in August 2023 on charges of murder, hijacking and kidnapping shortly after Share’s body had been found in some bushes near Albertinia on 5 August.
Mossel Bay Advertiser previously reported Share’s family reported him missing on 1 August after he had left for Herbertsdale on a business trip in his Ford Ranger that morning and never returned.
Three other suspects in the case are still at large.
A pre-trial conference will be set for 20 February, and the trial is set to begin on 12 August. The court also heard there may be up to 45 witnesses called for the trial.
