MOSSEL BAY NEWS - In collaboration with some other local businesses and organisations in Mossel Bay, the Greater Mossel Bay SAPS Football Club handed over boxes of sanitary pads to the Creating Effective Families (CEF) Centre in Alhof Drive, D’Almeida, on Friday 20 January.
The CEF is a care centre for at-risk women and children. Many of them come to the centre on an emergency basis.
The pads were donated by 13 teams who participated in a soccer tournament at the Ext 23 sportsgrounds on Saturday 14 February.
Sergeant Malusi Matiya, one of the founders of the police’s soccer team and the tournament, told Mossel Bay Advertiser that the tournament celebrated love and unity and raised awareness against gender-based violence.
“This is the least we can do,” he said during the handover at the CEF.
The group also paid a visit to Hillcrest Secondary and Indwe Secondary on Friday, where more sanitary pads were handed over.
