MOSSEL BAY NEWS AND VIDEOS - Iconic Mossel Bay is once again hosting a national sporting event this weekend, with the Isuzu Ironman 70.3 triathlon taking place on Sunday, 6 November.
It is the first time the race is being held in Mossel Bay and 15 professional athletes are taking part.
Spectators will witness an extraordinary day of racing, with all together, more than 2 500 athletes participating.
Athletes will take on a 1.9km (1.2 mile) swim, beginning opposite the Santos Beach Pavilion. They will finish at Santos Bay at De Bakke.
From here, athletes change into cycling gear and then take on a one-loop 90km (56 mile) cycling course.
They will cycle out and back on George Road, then on to Louis Fourie Road toward Albertina and on to the N2, before reaching the turnaround at Gouritz River valley, just short of Herbertsdale on the R327.
From here they return to Mossel Bay and change into running gear in De Bakke.
Lastly, the athletes run a 21.1km (13.1 mile) two-and-a half-loop course which takes them past the harbour, through historic central Mossel Bay, the Bartolomeu Dias Museum Complex and The Point, where the finish line beckons below the Cape St Blaize lighthouse.
