Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A Mossel Bay businessman accused of defrauding 12 people of more than R800 000 appeared in the Mossel Bay Regional Court today, 23 June.
André Boshoff (47), an electrician operating in the Mossel Bay area, faces multiple fraud charges relating to some alleged solar installation deals between February 2023 and May 2024.
He allegedly offered to supply solar components and units to clients, and received deposits ranging from R15 000 to R180 000.
The court documents state that the total amount allegedly received from the 12 complainants was R818 000, but that the promised materials and installations had allegedly not been delivered or done. The first case against Boshoff was opened in August 2023.
He was previously expected to enter into plea negotiations, but the process was delayed when the consultations with all the complainants had not been completed, one reportedly being overseas.
Today, the plea negotiations were unsuccessful, and the case has been postponed to 23 July for a trial date.
