MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The KwaNonqaba Police Station celebrated its 20th anniversary with an open day at the sports grounds in Barcelona, KwaNonqaba, on Friday, 26 April.
The station was opened in April 2004, with a staff of 20. Now, 20 years later, the station has grown to more than 90 members. Several role players attended the proceedings of the day.
A crime simulation exercise was held, where participants showed that they are prepared for the coming election. Station spokesperson, Warrant Officer Kappie Kapp, said: "By forming partnerships with various institutions, the KwaNonqaba Police Station has served the community for the past 20 years. Without these partnerships, the police would not be able to fulfil their task to serve and protect."
During the event, a wreath was presented to the family of Constable Jerome Jansen, who passed away in 2014 in the line of duty. He is also the only member who died in service during the station's 20-year existence. Tributes were also paid to other members who died, including those who succumbed to Covid.
