- The Great Brak Village History Walk: Monday, 2 April, 09:00 - 11:00.
The flat 4km history walk is suitable for both young and old. Register on the Garden Route Walking Festival website and then sign in at the museum in Amy Searle street from 08:30 onwards.
The route will go over and under the bridges of Great Brak River, ending on the island. Return the same way or via the other side of the estuary.
On the way, you will learn interesting facts about the bridges of Great Brak River, both ancient and modern, the village history, see the historic buildings at the town centre and visit the ancient Mossienes seabed.
See the site of the old village bakery and Cecile's herb garden. Discover the unfolding of the river formation and its changing history. Learn about 30 years of village wool washing and its demise with the opening of the railway station in 1906.
Also, this year discover something more about ichnology, which is making the coastline in this area famous.
