WOMEN'S MONTH NEWS - Serving and protecting the people in and around Mossel Bay for 23 years now is KwaNonqaba Police Station's crime intelligence management official, Warrant Officer Felisia Josephs.
Responsible for analysing and accurately interpreting data and information ahead of various police operations, Josephs' innate attention to detail is just one of the qualities that makes her good at her job.
So good in fact, that the station has awarded her numerous accolades over the years she has worked at the station.
Josephs started out in the Visible Policing Unit 23 years ago, before joining the Mossel Bay Police Station as a detective for eight years. In 2013, she moved to KwaNonqaba where she manages the crime intelligence sector.
Josephs said the challenge she faces today is that data and patterns and technology are always changing. She said in her line of work, you need to keep up, need to be accurate and be thorough. "You need to have experience and you need to have a feel for it," said Josephs.
A lover of people and helping others, Josephs said she had wanted to be a social worker when she was growing up, but by being in the police, she also gets to help and protect people.
Josephs has three children, whom she adopted after the death of her sister five years ago. Josephs has lost three siblings and both her parents over the last several years. She has three sisters, one of whom is her twin, also a police officer.
Josephs has this to say to the women of Mossel Bay and surrounding areas: "Never give up. Don't ever think you are inferior to another person. Never back down from a challenge, and do not second-guess yourself. You must always keep your faith. Without God, you cannot go through this life."
