Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Concerned Mossel Bay residents are rallying our townspeople to donate water to Beaufort-West, where the dam supplying the town has run dry.
The deadline to donate water is today, Friday 17 November, at 13:00, before it is trucked to the town.
The call to help Beaufort-West has been published on a number of facebook sites.
The initiative was started by Mossel Bay local, Gerhard le Roux. Le Roux told the Mossel Bay Advertiser: "I drive petrol trucks and this includes dropping off petrol in Beaufort-West. I know a few people there.
"I want to encourage people and businesses to donate water. I was involved in trucking water inland two years ago, when there was such a drought. If we can do it again, it will be good."
Anyone wishing to donate water can drop off bottles at the Shell Truckport in Voorbaai, where it is being stored.
Selwyn Barnard, the owner of Vredebest Removals in Mossel Bay, is kindly trucking the water to Beaufort-West.
All bottles of water must be dropped off at the truckport by 13:00 on Friday, 17 November, Barnard told the Mossel Bay Advertiser.
Call Le Roux on 076 753 4155 if you would like to become involved in some way.
Rain was forecast for Beaufort-West this week. Hopefully it has been the start of more desperately-needed showers needed to fill the Gamka Dam which feeds the town.
