Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay Advertiser contacted Bob Bolus this week to find out how his Bay2Bay Challenge was going.
Bob left Mossel Bay on 26 October to walk to Pringle Bay with the aim of completing 500km to raise funds for children born with a cleft lip or palate.
Bob is doing "Miles for Smiles" in support of Operation Smile South Africa, which assists children with a cleft lip or palate. He grew up in Mossel Bay and his family moved to Cape Town when he was 15, but Mossel Bay is still special to Bob.
At the end of his sixth day of walking on Tuesday, 1 November, Bob was still sounding fresh when he spoke to the Advertiser.
He had just walked through Jongensfontein on the coast, south of Stilbaai. "I have completed 120km in six days. I have two blisters, but otherwise, I am okay."
On the trail is a beach bungalow, on a seaside farm owned by friends of Bob. He was overnighting in the bungalow on Tuesday.
Bob is averaging 20km per day.
For short stretches he has been joined by walking partners, but mostly he has been on his own.
On Tuesday Bob endured extremely windy conditions. The wind was south-easterly, so it was at his back.
With his Bay2Bay Challenge he aims to arrive in Pringle Bay by 26 November.
