MOSSEL BAY NEWS - In response to restrictions announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa on Monday, 14 December, the Mossel Bay Municipality has pointed out the many activities still available in the Mossel Bay area.

The municipality issued a press release today, 15 December:

Mossel Bay Municipality has noted the amended Covid-19 regulations in terms of the Disaster Management Act which declared the Garden Route as the hot spot, as published in the Government Gazette on 15 December. These include the closure of beaches.

The municipality invites visitors to enjoy the many affordable attractions, including the numerous hiking trails in unspoiled nature and along the coastal walks. 

Mossel Bay is the adventure capital of the Garden Route and offers unique attractions and various adventure activities that guarantee unparalleled experiences and indelible experiences.

Fishermen with the relevant permits can still dip a line along the shore and deep-sea fishing experiences with professional fishing boat trips remains possible.

Also, many of the activities in the bay, including surfing, are allowed.

Estuaries, lagoons, quays, launch sites, and open coastal waters are still accessible.

With beautiful rivers in the greater Mossel Bay area, the youngsters can still frolic in the river water and even build sand castles on the river banks. Note, however, the notice boards where sections of the rivers are reserved for boats.

Mossel Bay Municipality's law enforcement officers will diligently apply municipal by-laws to ensure that no alcohol is used on beaches or the parking areas at beaches. Visitors to beach parking areas should note that no loud music is allowed under the Disaster Management Act regulations.

Lifesavers will still be deployed on numerous beaches to ensure beach safety. 

Also, the water parks in the municipal area are still open, promising loads of fun.

The town's restaurants offer exceptional dining experiences although within the framework of the amended curfew. Residents and visitors are warned to strictly adhere to the curfew from 22:00 until 04:00 in the morning to avoid a heavy fine. 

Please also note the regulations regarding the trade in and consumption of alcoholic beverages.

Mossel Bay still offers the many markets where residents and holiday makers can scout for bargains or unique gifts. Both the markets in the Harry Giddey Park as well as in Wolwedans continue, as well as the traditional street and night markets.

The Mossel Bay Municipality urges businesses to ensure that crowd control is strictly enforced per current regulations and to ensure that customers properly sanitize and wear their masks when entering the premises.
