MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Heart-to-Heart launched the Literacy Centre on 18 July 2019, providing structured English Literacy support to 47 Grade 2 children.

The program runs at Imekhaya Primary School in KwaNonqaba, and gives support to children in to help strengthen their reading, writing and speaking skills.

After eight months of one-on-one literacy sessions with the Grade 2 children, within the program, showed a 62% improvement rate in their diagnostic assessments.

This could not have been done without the amazing volunteers, who came in once to twice a week and does a Literacy Hour with the same child during weekday mornings.

These radical results has encourages the team to expand the program to reach more children.

Last year the program benefited 47 children from Imekhaya Primary and this year we’re looking to grow it to 146 Grade 2 and 3 learners.
