MOSSEL BAY NEWS - In an unexpected turn of events, the trial of a 45-year-old man from Bothastrand, outside Great Brak River, who is facing charges of being in possession of child pornography, has been postponed until 20 July next year.
Although the accused has not officially pleaded on the charges against him, his legal team has indicated that he intends to plead not guilty. His identity can only be disclosed afterwards.
The accused made a brief appearance in the Mossel Bay Regional Court today, 14 October.
The State indicated that another computer would be sent for forensic analysis in Pretoria.
The defence said in that case, they would not be able to properly cross-examine the witnesses who will be called by the State, and as such, requested that the case be postponed.
The magistrate granted the request and the case was postponed until 20 July 2026 for trial.
The accused’s bail of R5 000 was extended.
The identity of the suspect can only be disclosed when he has officially pleaded.
