MOSSEL BAY GOLF NEWS - Last week our ladies section had the privilege of celebrating not only a spectacular day of warmth and sunshine on the golf course, as swallows swooped around reminding us that spring is in the air, but the rare achievement of one of our active members, Rose Gerber, in attaining her octogenarian status.
Our diminutive Rosie or Roosknop, as she is fondly referred to, became a member in 1959 with her hubby Phil (soon to turn 90!) and has been an active and always busy member since then.
Rosie has always been happy to participate and contribute in whatever the ladies section is about, especially if it involves a bit of partying and dancing, an activity for which she is quite famous.
We were all very honoured to share in celebrating her forthcoming 80th birthday after the golf on Thursday, 30 August and I am sure I spoke for every single lady golfer when I wished her a memorable day on 3 September, with good health and happy golfing for many years to come.
The golf on Thursday was an IPS and there was quite a jam upfront, with three ladies scoring 39 points. Drini Kuhn counting into first place, followed by Shirley Greig and third place went to Cheryl Tooth.
Catherine Bell was fourth, counting out Liesbeth van Biene, both with 37 points. Tersia Mitchell and Liesbeth both achieved two clubs; Liesbeth was nearest to the pin.
Winners of the day, from left: Shirley, Cheryl, Liesbeth, Drini, Catherine and Tertia.
