MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A group of young adults from the Mossel Bay area received certificates on Friday, 12 April, after completing courses in entrepreneurship, life skills and job interview processes.
They underwent training which was facilitated by the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) and co-ordinated by the Social Development Department and received their certificates at the Social Development premises in Marsh Street, Mossel Bay.
The certificates the young adults received were for the entrepreneurship and job interview process courses.
NYDA trainer Carlyn Sassman explained: "These days companies want to ensure that applicants who come for job interviews know the process involved. The course attendees were trained in the basics of what happens at job interviews and were assisted with CV preparation.
"Their CVs will now go on to the NYDA database."
The youth co-ordinator for the Department of Social Development Mossel Bay office, Hazron Williams, said: "The course attendees were on the Mossel Bay Social Devevelopment office unemployed youth database and were referred for training by this office."
Williams said that as part of an "aftercare" programme for the young adults, there would be a "workshop with the Department of Labour and with SEDA (the small enterprise development agency)".
According to its website, the NYDA "was established by an Act of Parliament, Act no 54 of 2008, to be a single, unitary structure, established to address youth development issues at national, provincial and local government level."
