Craig Viljoen from Incident Working Group Africa said yesterday that the whale is in a late stage of decomposition.
Today after surveying the site a hole was dug and the carcass was buried.
Loose pieces were picked up by workers while mechanical equipment pulls the carcass to its grave where it was dismembered in smaller pieces.
“We put chemicals in to accelerate the decomposition and the rest of the oils and pieces will after a few tidal changes be taken back by the sea,” said Viljoen.
The public are refrained from swimming in the area and are asked to stay away from the site.
