Training on how to use and maintain the equipment took place at the Mossel Bay Yacht and Boat Club (MBYBC), presented by Pieter Roussouw of Wettest, to the members of the Sea Water Monitoring Forum, made up of members of the St Blaize Conservancy, MBYBC Diving Section, Adventures Edge staff, members from Oceans Aware and members of the public who wanted to be part of the project.
At the same time, the St Blaize Conservancy, under the leadership of Rhenia Niemand (chairperson), with Lucretia van der Walt, Mike Keet and Karin Claxton, thanked Michael Carelse from the Garden Route Casino Community Trust for the incredible sponsorship. Without their assistance, this project would never have materialised.
After a day of training, a lovely braai was held and everyone could not wait to start the monitoring of the different reefs, as soon as the weather improves.
"This effort can make a difference and preserve the beauty of the Mossel Bay reefs for future generations," said Mike Keet, "Once again we would like to invite anyone who would like to participate, to join us in this exciting venture."
