GARDEN ROUTE | KAROO NEWS - Nature is filled with wonderful things and sometimes we are lucky enough to witness it.
These spectacular photos were taken by Melt Siebert of Afri Eco Resort on the N2 between Wilderness and Sedgefield, while at work on Wednesday morning, 30 November.
According to the owner of the resort, Hendro Botes, Siebert was called by other staff members when they came across an owl and an olive house snake (not venomous) in a very sticky situation.
"We suspect the owl caught the snake, flew away with it, and the snake started to strangle the owl. Maybe they crash-landed, and we got to them when the fight was going strong. I'm just glad we could save both of them. They both had some battle scars," said Botes.
At first Siebert didn't see the snake and thought the owl was injured. "I thought the owl was injured and wanted to help him. When I got closer I saw the snake around the owl," said Siebert.
