MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay town councillor Anton Dellemijn, who is the portfolio chairman for Infrastructure Services on the Mayoral Committee, said Eskom indicated widespread tripping of power supply to residents of Mossel Bay immediately after the end of load-shedding on the evening of Tuesday, 27 June, was caused by a combination of several factors.
The Eskom network configuration had been temporarily changed to allow for essential maintenance work at Eskom's Sonskynvallei sub-station.
The situation was exacerbated by the increased load experienced as a result of the cold weather and the timing of restoration of electricity after load shedding, which was during the evening peak.
The Eskom maintenance work was to be completed on Thursday, 29 June, after which the normal demand capacity will again be available.
As the municipality has communicated before, and on numerous occasions, consumers are respectfully requested to continue to use electricity sparingly, especially during peak demand periods, when the supply network is most constrained, and to refrain from switching on large appliances until the electrical supply has stabilised after the restoration of power.
