MOSSEL BAY NEWS - According to the latest confirmed information, approximately 200 people are gathered in front of the KwaNonqaba Police station where they are demanding the release of people who were arrested during the past two day's protests in Asla Park.
KwaNonqaba Police spokesperson Sgt Kapp said the station commander, Lieutenant-Colonel Azisa Mandongana is addressing the group.
She has indicated that the police has no role to play in the amount of bail that was set.
The arrested protesters appeared in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court this morning where bail was set at R500 each.
As the protesters did not have or could not afford the set bail, they were remanded in custody.
According to unconfirmed reports, a number of people are also gathering at the traffic circle in Asla Park at the taxi rank. Extreme caution is advised along Louis Fourie Road in the immediate vicinity of Asla Park and KwaNonqaba
