MOSSEL BAY NEWS AND VIDEO - The Garden Route police district commander, Major-General Norman Modishana, and senior officers in the Garden Route District joined all other role players for National Police Prayer Day on 29 September at the Anglican Church in KwaNonqaba.
Partners in essential services attended the event, where there were prayers for police safety and for a spirit of tolerance. Those who had lost their lives while on duty were commemorated.

Major-General Modishana, recently appointed to his position, said his approach was about partnerships and working together with the community to prevent and solve crime.
"Fighting crime is not a one-person show. It should be a combination of police activity and involvement with the different communities. Leadership should be seen."
The prayer day started with a parade with several staff from essential service providers taking part. Children watching the parade and community members were invited to join the police in the hall for prayers.
Major-General Modishana said that while the prayer day took place in the Da Gamaskop police cluster jurisdiction, neighbouring police districts were busy with police operations.
Modishana currently has 21 police stations under his command - from Heidelberg and Plettenberg Bay to Meiringspoort, Kannaland and Uniondale.
Brigadier Belinda Pather has been appointed as the deputy district commissioner, who will be working hand in hand with Modishana. She is in charge of the detectives and visible policing in the district.
