KLEIN BRAK RIVER NEWS - Yesterday, 11 March the contractor has started charging the bulk waterline for the final water test for the section crossing the Klein Brak River.
As the pipe is suspended below the bridge - making future access very difficult - the test is very important to conclude the successful installation.
Due to circumstances arising from the test, the contractors are implementing additional support and bracing to the pipeline and, as a result, the bridge will not be opened for traffic today, 12 March as planned.
The contractors are fully committed to completing the final work today and to retest over the weekend.
If all goes according to plan, the steel scaffolding over the bridge will be stripped on Monday and Tuesday, and the road will be reopened to vehicular traffic by Wednesday, 17 March.
“Mossel Bay Municipality apologises for the inconvenience.”
