MOSSEL BAY NEWS - One of the organisers of the Hart & Bosch Village parkrun, Ita Janse van Rensburg, encourages walkers to join the event on Saturdays.
She urges as many walkers to join the parkrun as possible, as well as the usual runners.
"The name ‘parkrun’ might imply that events are not for people who walk. Yet, this couldn’t be further from the truth," says Janse van Rensburg.
"If you’ve thought about coming to parkrun but only feel able to walk, this is the time to give it a go. There’s no time limit and the finish funnel stays open until the tail walker is through behind the last participant. Just walk it at your own speed and we will be there to cheer you on.
"We know that walking is one of the best entry points into the parkrun, especially for those who may be taking their first steps towards healthier lifestyles. Walking can help people manage or prevent health conditions, enhance mood, boost fitness and enable people to connect with others."
The parkrun is completely free to enter. All you need to do is sign up for parkrun at www.parkrun.co.za/register/ and bring your barcode along on Saturday.
The parkrun starts at 08:00 every Saturday at Hart & Bosch Village on the R102 (behind the Salt & Copper Restaurant).
15 October, as part of the annual Recreation and Sport Festival, the parkrun will have a pink theme for breast cancer awareness. Because of Covid-19 this parkrun was not held during 2020 and 2021.
Wear something pink and show your support while having fun, Ita urges.
