MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay is gearing up for the first presentation of the Iron Man 70.3 competition, which takes place on Sunday 6 November.
Several roads will be closed for the day.
The public is asked to exercise patience and allow the 2 500 athletes the opportunity to participate in safety.
The event will also be held in Mossel Bay in 2023 and 2024 as part of a three-year contract with the Mossel Bay Municipality, wich means exposure for Mossel Bay all over the world.

Roads affected
George Road (between Louis Fourie Road and Rudie Barnard Street: Closed)
05:00-17:30
Residents of De Bakke can use 6th Avenue/Marsh Street as an access point.
George Road (between Church Street and Rudie Barnard Street: Lane restrictions)

The De Bakke-bound lanes are open to traffic, however, the Point-bound lanes will be closed to traffic.
Church Street is the crossover point for vehicular traffic to the harbour, Dias Museum, Protea Hotel, and the Bayside Centre (Checkers).
Bland Street (between Church Street and Kloof Street: Closed)

Beach Street is a crossover point for traffic to the Port of Mossel Bay Gate 3. (Use Daley and Kloof to access Gate 3).
The Point-bound lanes are closed to traffic, while the Central-bound lanes are open to traffic up to Kloof Street, where traffic must turn left into central Mossel Bay.
Residents of Daley Street, Huckle Street and Beacon Point must use Beach Street as the access point to Mossel Bay central.
Residents of Point Village may only turn right out of Wallace Road towards the town centre.
Point Road (entire Point Road from Bland Street to Upper Cross Street: Closed)
Saturday 06:00 to Sunday 19:00
(No overnight parking on 5 November)
The finish line and run chute is built on this road. Patrons are welcome to access the Point walkways, restaurants and other businesses as pedestrians.
Munro Street (between George Road and the Dias Museum lower gate: Closed)
05:00-17:00
One lane reserved for residents to exit via the harbour between 05:00 and 09:45. Vehicles will only be able to return after 16:45. Patrons to Santos Beach, Santos Express and Beach Pavilion can park off-site and walk via Munro Beach.
Station Street (between Church/Market Street and Bland Street: Closed)
05:00-17:00
Use Church Street to cross over George Road.
Coastal Walkway (Kloof Street to Point Road: Closed)
09:00-17:00
Closed to the public. Athletes will be running on the coastal pathway towards the Point.
Beaches
No swimming at Santos Beach and De Bakke Beach: Closed
Note that no swimming or surfing will be allowed at the swim start, swim exit or any point in between from sunrise until 10:00 (water clear).
