MOSSEL BAY NEWS AND VIDEO - The Western Cape Minister of Health, Dr Nomafrench Mbombo, visited health facilities on the Garden Route last week as part of the provincial government's outreach during Covid-19.
This follows Western Cape Minister of Transport and Public Works, Boningkosi Madikizela's, visit the weekend before.
During her visit, Dr Mbombo opened several newly refurbished facilities and also talked to communities about the behavioural change campaign, involving the distribution and wearing of face masks.
The MEC visited the Mossel Bay Provincial Hospital, Alma Clinic and the PetroSA Isolation and Quarantine Facility. At the isolation and quarantine facility she was accompanied by local medical health professionals, headed by Dr Jaco Bothma.

PetroSA was represented by Rev Kholly Zono, group chief operating officer and the manager of the isolation and quarantine facility, Johan Stassen. Eden District Municipality was represented by the executive mayor, Councillor Memory Booysen.
The property manager, Sister Shanneil Busch, explained the procedures followed in dealing with people with symptoms of Covid-19 and the set-up and management of the patients at the facility.
Stassen said the facility could host 350 patients but so far the avarage was 50 to 70 on a daily basis. It peaked at 105. Mbombo thanked everyone involved in making the PetroSA Isolation and Quarantine Facility a success.
