Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Last month the Mossel Bay Advertiser published an article, asking for help in buying a wheelchair for a boy with special needs.
Currently, Antoni van Reenen (10) has a special needs pram, but he is growing fast and a seating specialist has said he should be in a wheelchair as soon as possible, otherwise he will have back and spine problems.
Right now there is a project to collect plastic bread clips and bottle tops to raise money for a wheelchair for Antoni. The drop-off point for these plastics is Kodak Express DigitalSolutions at the Mosselbaai Mall in Heiderand.
About 200kg of these is necessary to pay for the wheelchair, which costs R25 000.
Another fundraising project has taken place for Antoni's wheelchair.
Sunny Sands self-catering flat (La Mer woonstelle-Mossel) had a competition in which the entry fee was R200. All entry fees, which amounted to a total of R2 300, were deposited into Antoni's bank account, said Lizel Engelke, of Sunny Sands, who organised the competition.
The prize in the competition was two nights' accommodation at the Sunny Sands holiday apartment in Hartenbos for four people.
The winner was Betsy Saayman of Brackenfell. Her winning ticket was drawn and announced on Saturday, 29 February, and she has already booked her holiday dates at Sunny Sands.
Antoni also requires neurophysiotherapy, which is expensive. His parents only have a hospital plan.
Lizel told the Mossel Bay Advertiser: "We still have Antoni's bank account details and the name and contact details of his neurophysiotherapist on our website, should people still wish to donate to Antoni. Our website is www.sunnysands.co.za."
