MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Steps Dance Academy in Mossel Bay are proud of their dancers' achievements at the Talent Africa Nationals, held 5-8 April in the Port Elizabeth Opera House.
After a very successful regional round, held at the George Arts Theatre, 27 dancers qualified for the nationals.
Twenty three dancers participate in Port Elizabeth, aged between five and 17-years-old representing different schools including Hartenbos, Park, Milkwood, Punt, York High and Langenhoven Gim in Oudtshoorn.
Steps returned home boasting nine gold, nine silver and four bronze medals for the 22 items. A total of 850 items were presented.
The top achievers were:
Henru Holloway: (two gold medals, one silver medal, most original concept for drama, Top 10 junior drama, most promising dancer and Top 10 junior dancer).
Tahlia Bell: (two gold medals, four silver medals, two bronze medals and Top 10 junior dancer).
Lyche van der Westhuizen: (four gold medals, one silver medal and Top 10 junior dancer).
Steps Dance Academy also received a loyalty award and best costume design for a group dance inspired by The Greatest Showmen.
Out of the 23 dancers, 14 of the students were selected for the SA team, to represent SA at Talent America in New York.
