The Bibles will be distributed by the George based ADP office to identified visually impaired persons residing in the Eden region.
Councillor McCombi handed over the Bibles as part of Eden's commitment towards the plight of the visually impaired to be included and recognized in all activities that concern them, and said: "We hope to continue until we make the difference and impact that People living with Disabilities are hoping for".
After receiving the Bibles, Ms Angelique de Jager, APD's social worker highlighted the importance of a partnership with Eden's District Municipality and added that the most deserving people within the region will be identified to be the recipients of the Braille Bibles.
A workshop to discuss the development of the District Development Plan will be hosted by the Eden District Municipality in collaboration with the Department of Social Development and the Department of Local government on 5 March. The APD, one of the major roleplayers, will participate and guide government in terms of disability.
