BUSINESS NEWS - Many people suffer from a build-up of free radicals because of a poor diet.
Free radicals cause damage to cells and can cause loss of energy, fatigue and even chronic disease.
Examples of foods which cause free radicals include most fast foods (takeaways, fried foods, pies); refined, processed flour products; chocolate bars; sweets; sugary drinks; and vegetable oils.
Nutrient-rich foods include all animal fats, fresh fish, green vegetables, fruits, berries, nuts, seeds and cold-pressed oils, such as olive, avocado and coconut oils.
These foods are high in antioxidants and can help to fight free radicals.
Supplements
The body can fight free radicals, but cannot neutralise all the free radicals caused by a poor diet, so taking supplements which contain antioxidants helps to fight against free radicals.
Dr Stephen Schmidt, a qualified physician, with 32 years’ experience in clinical practice and drug research, has brought a unique free-radical fighting supplement to Africa.
Called Eterna™, it contains tocotrienols, which are part of the vitamin E family. They are considered the most potent, effective forms of vitamin E.
Tocotrienols are fat soluble and are absorbed well by the cells, because our cell membranes have a fat layer. Tocopherols make up the other types of vitamin E. Tocopherols have a long tail (phytyl), whereas tocotrienols have a shorter, more flexible tail (farnesyl). This allows tocotrienols to cover a larger surface area of the cell membrane more quickly, making them more than 50 time more effective as antioxidants!
Basically, the tocotrienols enter the cell and "clean up" the cell.
Many health benefits
Eterna™ has many health benefits. It can assist in arresting and even reversing certain diseases. It is beneficial to take when undergoing chemotherapy, it reduces bad cholesterol, promotes longevity and it reduces symptoms of ageing. It is also effective in fighting skin conditions, such as psoriasis and eczema, and reduces skin blemishes.
Tocotrienols can also combat the effects of radiation.
Dr Schmidt likens free radicals, causing stress and disease in the body, to a build-up of rubbish.
He advises:
- As far as possible, eliminate from your diet junk food, which causes rubbish (free radicals) in the cells.
- Deliberately eat healthy foods to prevent a build-up of free radicals and to help reduce free radicals.
- Combat the free radicals which remain, by taking an antioxidant supplement.
The tocotrienols in Eterna™ are derived from the Annatto plant, Bixa orellana. It is native to tropical areas of Mexico and central and South America, but grows in other tropical areas as well.
Seeds
The seeds of the plant are a source of vitamin E that supplies tocotrienols without tocopherols. The seeds are also used as a food colourant: Annatto is often listed as the colourant in cheeses and butter, for example.
Eterna™ is available at Fanie’s Pharmacy, 93 Marsh Street, Mossel Bay For more information on Eterna™, call 021 870 1613 or email sales@endocare.co.za. Also, see https://endocare.co.za/.
