The handover of the plaque took place at Surval Boutique at an induction and gala dinner of the Garden Route Chaîne des Rôtisseurs.
New members were also inducted and some existing members promoted at the function.
The Brass Plaque is proof that the highest standard is maintained at these establishments and they are regularly checked on. International visitors flock to these venues as they are assured of the standard.
"For a small region like the Garden Route, this is remarkable as very few of these plaques are distributed. With standards like these, the region has proved that it is up there with the rest of the country and the world," says David Hyman, bailli of the Bailliage de l`Outeniqua of the Chaîne.
An elaborate seven course gala dinner was served at Surval with wines and live music paired with each course. The theme for the evening was a French inspired menu with some Little Karoo influence in the ingredients. Ostrich, crocodile, 'melktert' and lamb's tongue were tastefully renewed with a modern twist and served with the best of Garden Route's local wines.
Membership to the very prestigious Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, an international food and wine guild, which had its royal beginnings in 1248 in France, is on invitation only and acknowledges constant high standards in the culinary industry. The guild is active in almost every country of the world and has at its core the upliftment of young chefs and sommeliers, and maintaining high standards of food and wine outlets.
