MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The next iOcean Iconic Youth Collaboration event will take place on Saturday, 22 March.
It will be a celebration of Human Rights Day, which is the day before - 21 March.
These events are organised by the iOcean Investment Trust, which partners with municipal departments and other forums and bodies, to empower the youth and educate them on career paths.
The last event to empower the youth took place last month at the Dias Museum and Santos Beach.
Young people learnt about the maritime industry, enjoyed paddle boarding and were also treated to a demonstration by Mossel Bay Fire and Rescue Services.
For the next event, youth are invited to “connect and view the world with a new lens, learning photography skills”.
Call Andrea Bradfield (082 077 8702), the director iOcean Investment Trust, to book.
The IOceans Investment Trust, in collaboration with the The Surfer Kids NPO, the Skipper Foundation, the Sea Cadets, and Hillcrest High School learners who are part of the school's interact team, successfully hosted a transformative Marine and Career Networking Partnered Workshop on 22 February.
It took place at the Dias Museum and at Santos Beach.
The workshop, facilitated by Bradfield, started with an icebreaker session, “Who Am I?”
Participants engaged in self-reflection exercises, exploring their strengths, interests and career aspirations, while reinforcing the importance of first impressions.
Bradfield said: "With 65 enthusiastic participants, the event underscored the power of community collaboration in opening doors to future career opportunities for young individuals."
Activities included a hands-on introduction to paddle boarding, hosted by the The Skipper Foundation.
This session not only provided an adventurous marine experience but also introduced participants to essential water-based skills.
An insightful career discussion followed, featuring specially selected guest speakers.
A special highlight of the event was the participation of the Mossel Bay Fire and Rescue Services and a discussion on career pathways in the fire services.
Bradfield thanked Abongile Zenani of the Dias Museum for hosting the workshop. “Together, with collaboration, we can drive transformation and create sustainable career pathways for our youth,” Bradfield assured. For more information, see www. ioceantrust.org.
