ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - Without revealing too much to the media, Joe Strydom, e.TV publicist, spoke to Times Live where he revealed that although the details of the death had yet to be discovered, it looked like a hijacking gone wrong.
“It is true. We are not sure of the details at the moment but we understand that he was involved in a hijacking on Wednesday and died,” he said.
Police spokesman Kay Makhubela said Masilela and a friend sped off after they were approached by attackers in a Jeep in Tembisa on Wednesday night.
The men responded by firing at them. Masilela was at the wheel and his friend took him to hospital where he passed away.
'He managed to drive off, but the friend took over and took him to hospital where he was reported dead Thursday morning," he said.
Dumi Masilela played the role of Sifiso Ngema on the e.tv soapie and was a firm favourite on the show.
