The opening scene was dramatic with a half lit stage and their 2012 hit Journey through the Shadows reverberating over the sound system.
This was to set the tone for an ultimately unforgettable evening. The Barn, a popular entertainment venue outside Mossel Bay was packed with more than 200 people from as far as Lagos and many other Southen Cape towns.
Lead singer Kahn Morbee, known for his dramatic facial make-up, was joined on stage by drummer and percussionist Neil Pauw, lead guitarist and keyboard player Paul Hodgson, and keyboard artist, bass guitarist and backing vocalist Glenn Hodgson. Hodgson also performed for the opening act by Justin Serrao.
The show consisted of popular hits from their various albums, however, certain renditions were simply in a class of their own. The ballad Beautiful, off their 2005 album Radiocontrolledrobot had the many fans singing along, and before long they were dancing in the isles.
Especially the last chords and vocals of the 1982 hit Eye of the Tiger of the American rock band Survivor, was something to remember for years to come.
A show of more than two hours have way too many hits to mention, but Colourful, off their album Radiocontrolledrobot, Never stand alone off their album Stand Like Giants and even Honey Spider and It's Magic deserve special mention.
The show officially ended with what many may describe as their best ever hit, Push Me To The Floor off their 2009 album Stardust Galaxies, but the ecstatic fans were by no way ready to let the evening end.
The band's rendition of the popular Koos Kombuis song, Lisa se Klavier, "especially for their Afrikaans supporters", has certainly converted many a fan into a true supporter.
Those who haven't seen the show, make sure to be at The Barn tonight at 20:00.
