MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The inaugural Mos Jazz Festival is being held on De Bakke Santos Beach this week from Thursday, 22 March until Sunday evening 25 March.
23 performances over the 4 days will ensure that the Moss Jazz Festival has something for everyone.
The star-studded line-up is as follows
• Thursday 17:00 – 01:00: Sole Individuals, N2, Karin Kortjie, Dr Victor, DJ Rory
• Friday 17:00 – 01:00: Sequence Band, Airborne, Zami Indingi, Rockets, Uncle Cal
• Saturday 12:00 – 01:00: Signature SA, Ramon Alexander, G Minor, Jeodhouse, Jonathan Rubain, Judith Sephuma, Heart & Soul, Selwyn Bartlett
• Sunday 11:30 – 22:00: Ocean Breeze, Donveno Prins, Vuvu Khumalo, Cameron Ward, Alistair Izobell, Me Time
Of the 23 performances, 4 of the bands are from the Southern Cape:
Ocean Breeze Band has been crafting and creating an uplifting, old school jazzy and groovy sound for the past 20 years. With its uniquely identifiable style, the Band has become particularly popular in its hometown and the rest of the Garden Route and Southern Cape. The band has also travelled extensively over the years and performed at gigs across South Africa.
Gminor is another local band. They started in 2012 as a 4-piece performing cover versions of popular songs. They are greatly influenced by the timeless music of the 70’s and 80’s and their slogan ‘Feel Good Music’ is descriptive of their aim to lift up and inspire their audience with feel-good music.
Sole Individuals is a project that developed from a special exchange that took place in June 2017 when the music students of both Outeniqua High and George High attended a workshop hosted by well-known Cape Jazz musician Ramon Alexander. His expertise lit a fire and inspired the young men to try their hand at playing Jazz. The music that they play has a special style and distinctive sound, which varies from the soulful and intriguing qualities of smooth jazz to the intricacies of African Jazz
Sequence Band is a dynamic trio formed over 7 years ago and they present a professional and unique entertainment package.Their diverse repertoire, covering all the decades, makes them a crowd pleaser appealing to even the most sophisticated of audiences.
Tickets
The ticket prices are very affordable with a 4-day pass costing R400 and day passes at R150. Pensioners and under 18s pay half price and children under 12, accompanied by an adult, can enter for free.
Weekend and day passes can also be purchased at the Fork and Train bar/restaurant at De Bakke Santos, Mossel Bay.
