MOSSEL BAY SPORT NEWS - This year the historical race of 201 nautical miles from Simon's Town to Mossel Bay will start at 09:00 on Thursday, 30 September.
The Mossel Bay Race, the oldest sea race in South Africa's sailing history, will be hosted by the False Bay Yacht Club (FBYC) and Mossel Bay Sailing Club, previously known as the Mossel Bay Yacht and Boat Club.
This year the race will be supported by the Protea Hotel, Mossel Bay. The hotel will be used as the base for the race organisers and sailors because there is no yacht club premises in Mossel Bay anymore.
The first yacht usually arrives in Mossel Bay the day after the start of the race, with the rest of the yachts arriving later that day and the next day.
The prize giving is planned for the following Friday evening at the FBYC.
