MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Ashley Layland, Ruzaide Kannemeyer and Jowayden Jacobus, all sailors of the Skipper Foundation in Mossel Bay, will be jetting off to the RS Tera World Championships in Ljungskile, Sweden, next week.
Both Jowayden and Ruzaide were chosen to receive a sponsorship, making it possible for them to attend this prestigious event. Both boys are receiving their charter boat and entry fee for free and staying with a Swedish family.
Ljungskile is in the province of Bohusän and an hour away from Gothenberg. It was named one of the 10 most beautiful nature areas in the world by CNN.
According to the experts it has brilliant sailing conditions and hopefully the temperature will be moderate in August.
The three sailors will also be able to experience bioluminescence in the water, a phenomenon caused by a chemical reaction that causes certain water organisms to glow in the dark. They say if you swim in the evening you will have a golden touch.
The Skipper Foundation has to pay for Jowayden's and Ruzaide's flights and has collected just over half the funds.
It would be extremely grateful for any assistance with this cost. Please go to www.backabuddy.co.za/champion/project/tera-worlds to donate or contact Elfie (082 826 3825).
