Although off to a very rainy start the mercury managed to hold out for the whole day allowing for extraordinary tennis.
Joined by enthusiastic members of Klein-Brakrivier and Belvidere, the Sedgefield Tennis Challenge was an opportunity to raise some funds for a local youth project managed by Masithandane.
All 30 participants paid R35 to enter and because the costs for the day were sponsored by Sanlam all proceeds will be donated to the Youth Project. This was added to the income of the prizes offered by Lake Pleasant Living auctioned at the end of the day.
Klein-Brakrivier put up some fierce competition, but in the end it was Sedgefield Tennis Club’s players who took the trophy.
Rudolph de Wet of Sedgefield and Susan Swain of Rheenendal ensured their names were the first on the spiral trophy sponsored by Sanlam.
The organisers also did not want players to go away empty handed so many prizes were given away through a lucky draw.
