MOSSELBAAI NUUS - Spectacular touch rugby was enjoyed in Mossel Bay over the festive season.
Mossel Bay Tourism's Great Escape to Mossel Bay campaign joined forces with the Hot Summer of Touch (HSOT) '21 tournament.
All six touch rugby meetings – in Strand, Camps Bay, Kleinmond, Struisbaai, and on Mossel Bay's Dias Beach and Hartenbos field – were characterised by excellent sportsmanship and a fiercely competitive spirit.
In the quarterfinals it was: Bomb Squad versus Avo-cardio, Vastrap versus Mosselbraaiers, Kalahari Krewe versus Harties Random, Last Touch HQ versus Orange Apple Titans, and there were other fun names in the mix including Waarslaapons, Wille Honne, Phoenix and Untouchables.
The final HSOT '21 session was in Hartenbos on 29 December.
HSOT '21 organiser Graham Bobrow said: "It was a riveting battle between the Vikings from Cape Town, who lost out in the final at Dias Beach, and Struisbaai's Future Warriors, who had won tournaments all the way through this year's series. The Vikings came through with a very nice comeback, winning 2-1 in a sudden death playoff."
