Sedibe has slapped the football body with a summons, demanding R5 million for defamation.
In March, Fifa banned Sedibe for five years from all football related activity.
According to the summons, Sedibe is demanding the money from current Safa CEO Dennis Mumbleand R2.5 million from former employee Lindile Ace Kika.
The legal action is related to comments the two men alleged made to Fifa, which resulted in Sedibe being banned.
His lawyer has explained that these comments were made to suggest that the former CEO was derelict in his duties, and corrupt.
Safa has confirmed that the summons has been received, but has declined to make any further comments.
