The 28-year-old former IBO super-middleweight and light-heavyweight champion Oosthuizen, who has a record of 26-0-2; 14, won the vacant IBO super-middleweight belt with a ninth stoppage win over Evert Bravo, and made seven successful defences before relinquishing the belt in April, 2014, and moving up to the light-heavyweight division.
He captured the vacant IBO light-heavyweight belt in March last year when he beat fellow South African Ryno Liebenberg.
This will be Oosthuizen’s first fight since 6 June, 2015 when he was scheduled to defend his IBO light-heavyweight belt against Robert Berridge.
Even though he outpointed Berridge, he came in overweight and was stripped of the belt.
Bruwer, 31, a former South African light-heavyweight and junior-heavyweight champion who has a record of 25-6-1; 21, has not fought since 4 October, 2014 when he was stopped in the seventh round by Olek Sandr.
Oosthuizen has left his long time trainer Harold Volbrect, and is now under the guidance of Gert Strydom. Bruwer is trained by Damien Durandt, who has taken over from his father Nick.
Both fighters have picked up weight during their inactivity and will have a great deal to prove.
However, if Oosthuizen is in condition he should be able to outspeed the rugged Bruwer over 12 rounds.
Also on the card is a middleweight fight between Xolani Mvubu and Barend van Rooyen, who has recently returned to action after 14 years, and Patrick Mukula from the Congo against Khayeni Hlungwane in a super-middleweight contest.
Brandon Thysse, son of the promoter, will also feature against Siyamcela Mntwana in a junior-middleweight bout.
