MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A local enduro racer made Mossel Bay proud when he was crowned the E1 Class Enduro National Champion of 2019.
William Oosthuizen (21), former head boy of Curro Mossel Bay school, had a string of first places this year with his a Husqvarna FE250.
In March he and teammate Ranty Ernest from Madagascar ended in the second overall place in the Heures Honda race in Madagascar.
He came first in the first National Enduro in New Hanover in KZN, in the second National Enduro at Piesangkloof in Magaliesburg, in the third National Enduro in Lesotho and in the fourth round of the Impi National Enduro at Esowe in KZN, as well as in the fifth round in Robertson.
In October he came third in the sixth round of the National Enduro in Port Elizabeth.
By winning five out of the six Enduro National Championship races, William became the South African E1 National Enduro champion for 2019.
He further competed in the ICE race in Port Elizabeth and was placed fourth. In July he competed in the Red Bull Romaniacs race in Romania, which is renowned for being the hardest enduro in the world. Unfortunately he could not complete it as he was hospitalised.
