MOSSEL BAY NEWS - SA Goju Ryu Karate-Do hosted an international Goju Ryu Karate Do Gashuku (seminar) in Mossel Bay in March.
The students and instructors from the Southern Cape Dojos were once again privileged to attend a high quality karate training seminar presented by the internationally renowned Kancho Rony Kluger, eighth Dan Hanshi from Karate-Do International.
He was accompanied by sixth Dan Renshi Shmeul Fride and fifth Dan Shihan Shay Benderski from Israel. It was a weekend of intense training revolving around the essence of our beautiful art, Goju Ryu Karate, with practical applications and analysis of techniques used by our "style" for self-defence against an attacker.
The training was intense and tough yet very enjoyable and of immense value for all participants.
The Kata training was excellent, with good logical explanations about the various techniques and the "how" of practical application.
Sensei Kobus Klue fifth Dan from Mossel Bay made history when he became the first to be graded to Shodan in Yamani Ryu Kubodo weapons training in South Africa.
Representing the Southern Cape was Shihan André van Vuuren, chief instructor SA Goju Ryu Karate-Do.
