GOLF NEWS - Mossel Bay’s Louis Oosthuizen is leading the British Open on a two-stroke lead on 11-under 129, the lowest halfway total in Open history.
Oosthuizen was in this winning position as play ended last evening, 16 July.
Play started early this morning at the Royal St George's Golf Club at Sandwich, Kent in England.
Oosthuizen was the 2010 champion of The Open.
Oosthuizen, aged 38, is one of four South Africans in the top 10. He played an exciting game, with two birdies and an eagle within three holes yesterday. From the 12th hole he looked set for a win.
His score achieved yesterday is the lowest 36-hole total in the history of the British Open, a competition which started in 1860.
