MOSSEL BAY GOLF NEWS - Mossel Bay's Simoné Ferreira (16) has won the regional Southern Cape Champion of Champions competition.
It was held at Pinnacle Point on Thursday, 13 October.
In this competition, the top women golfers from all the clubs in the Southern Cape compete against each other.
As a result of this regional victory, Simoné will be flying to Johannesburg to compete in the national golf club championships from 7 to 9 November at Kyalami Golf Club.
As if victory in the regional club championships was not enough, the young golfer went on to make it a double whammy, winning the Kingswood Open in George on Sunday, 17 October.
These were two victories in one week - and against golfers much older than she.
Top club golfers
Simoné will be up against the top club golfers in the country at Kyalami Golf Club. Six regions have entered the competition.
But before this, on Sunday 31 October, she will be competing in a tournament at Simola Golf Course in Knysna.
She has bounced back in full force, after not competing for eight weeks because of an appendix abcess, which was removed by surgery. She had been suffering with appendix problems for a while and lost out on competing in some prestigious competitions. She was chosen to play in interprovincial tournaments and was forced to withdraw twice.
Simoné's coach is AP Botes from Precision Golf School in Mossel Bay
