NATIONAL NEWS - The Western Cape Provincial Legislature will see a debate in a motion of no confidence in Premier Helen Zille on Thursday.
The African National Congress (ANC) requested the motion around the time Zille faced disciplinary charges within her own party for posting a controversial tweet about colonialism, which she later apologised for.
Zille kept her job as premier but she is not allowed to participate in the party's decision-making structures.
Democratic Alliance (DA) caucus chairperson Lorraine Botha is confident the motion won't succeed.
“We anticipate a robust and detailed discussion on Helen Zille’s performance as the Premier of the Western Cape and the multitude of success achieved under her leadership.”
