NATIONAL NEWS - Taxpayers who file their returns at South African Revenue Service’s (SARS) branches, had until Thursday to submit their documents, Zululand Observer reports.
The revenue service has, however, continued to encourage taxpayers to register on its digital platforms as the deadline for eFiling and SARS MobiApp users is 4 December.
‘In a major departure from previous years, to improve service to taxpayers and encourage conversion to online filing, tax season 2019 is staggered,’ SARS said in a statement.
‘This allows taxpayers who use eFiling and the MobiApp for smart phones and tablets, to file their income tax returns until 4 December.
‘Taxpayers who wish to use online filing for the first time may also register during this period.’
At the opening of the tax season, SARS said while it has made it easy for taxpayers to comply, it is concerned about those who continue to break the law.
